TEACHING HIGHLIGHTS & ARTIFACTS

ITIME

Students Ages 8-9

Students worked once a week to consider topics they were interested in. They individually worked to come up with questions or topics. Then they wrote everything they knew about the topic. They planned and researched their topic and presented the learning to their peers.

PERSONAL FINANCE REQUIRES ORGANIZATION AND PLANNING

How We Organize Ourselves

With the Mandarin team, students created their own currency, EtonBucks (ENB). In homeroom, students designed their own school job description and how to earn money. For three weeks, students clocked in and out and earned a student salary, saving enough ENB to hire actors and purchase supplies to make props for a puppet show. Students wrote their own scripts in homeroom. They designed their own CV's using the IB's Approaches to Learning in Homeroom using Canva. They held auditions in Performing Arts. They purchased 'puppet packages' and designed their characters and settings in Visual Arts.

At the end, the students performed a puppet show, asking donations to give towards the KIVA project, an organization that loans to an entrepreneur across the globe.
